Education: Visiting Information
Overview
Jondaryan Woolshed is at 264 Evanslea Road Jondaryan, 45 kilometres
west of Toowoomba over the Great Dividing Range. It is only two
and a half hours drive from Brisbane. See our Location
Maps. The attraction is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to
4pm, except Good Friday and Christmas Day. The minimum school group
is 12 students. Larger groups can be divided. There are two main
types of visits for schools, day visits,
and longer stay visits for up to
a week.

Tours
Guided Tours
Our volunteer guides help to bring exhibits to life for curious minds through a
series of tour and program options.
Self-Guided Tours
Groups and individuals are welcome to use the exhibits as a backdrop for
teaching something new.
Teacher-Guided Visits
Teacher-guided visits are enhanced by a customised briefing, resources and
an the opportunity to participate in demonstrations and activities.
Large Group Tour Formats
We can accommodate large groups. By combining self-guided tours and
rotating students through small group activities, you and your students can get
the most from your visit.

Program Fees
- Independent visits $8 per student, adults $13.00
- Day trips (groups of 12 or more) $7 per student guided,
includes three demonstrations and two programs
- Stay trips by quote, depending on meal and accommodation options,
per student per day.
- One adult free per 12 students, extra adults $12 admission,
$11 accommodation.

Fees may be pre-paid, or paid on arrival by cash, credit card or by a
cheque payable to the Jondaryan Woolshed.
Free Teacher's Family Passes
Teachers planning a school visit are admitted FREE OF CHARGE. Contact
us and request a Free Teacher's Pass.

Planning your visit
When planning a visit to the Jondaryan Woolshed, teachers and group
leaders are advised to visit the Woolshed in advance (free of charge) and to
access resource materials and information online.
Have Children and Staff Dress Up!
Encourage children in the Primary and Intermediate groups to dress up in
clothes from the 1800s. This can be easily achieved from clothes that
children have at home.
Boys
- Long trousers with belt
- Long-sleeved shirt tucked in
- Scarf or bow tie
- Optional waistcoat
- Lace-up shoes or boots
- Cap
Girls
- Dress mid-calf length or
- Skirt and long-sleeved blouse
- Optional apron, pinafore, petticoat
- Stockings or long socks
- Boots or shoes
- Cape or shawl (use an old baby blanket, table cloth or square piece of
fabric folded on a diagonal and tied or pinned at the front
- Bare head (with sunscreen), bonnet or straw sunhat
Name Tags
To help our staff build rapport with your students we recommend that primary
and intermediate students wear name tags that are easy to read.
Arrival Procedure
Have your bus drop you at the main entrance and present your Booking
Confirmation Form to reception and finalise payment
The group will be greeted by our Tour Guide. Safety and conduct procedures
will be outlined. Your guide will also describe the activities planned for the visit
and the structure of the day. Students may be divided into groups at this point
depending on the nature of the programs
Chaperones
The chaperones accompanying the group must ensure that student behaviour
and conduct is compliant with the Jondaryan Woolshed's Code of Conduct.
We recommend a ratio of: 1 adult to 12 students
Free Time
We suggest that you allow some free time for students to explore
exhibits and displays of special interest to them. They may also
wish to visit the Snack bar or Woolshed shop.
Eating
We can cater or alternatively, students can bring a packed lunch
to eat in the picnic area. Students on extended stays can eat at
the tea and damper room for morning and afternoon tea, or the dining
room for lunch and dinner or utilise the BBQ facilities.
First Aid
Trained Staff are available. The first aid room is located in the main
Reception area.
Toilets
A male and female toilet block is located in the grounds.
Wheelchair Access
The Jondaryan Woolshed caters for visitors in wheelchairs
